TITLE: LEARNING CONSULTANT 2.15
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in area of responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree with major in curricular area.
- Master’s Degree in curricular area appropriate to curricular support.
- Commitment to become certified or to maintain certification in Reading Recovery
- Demonstrated knowledge of research-based literacy intervention strategies
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SUPERVISES: Assigned paraeducator employees and program volunteers.
JOB GOAL: To help provide a learning environment and consultative services that will enable each student to master the academic skills appropriate to age, grade level, and individual capacity.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides consultative leadership by helping to coordinate, plan, and supervise instructional programs of the school.
- Coordinates and implements Reading Recovery services while maintaining certification through ongoing training
- Identify and provide coaching to classroom teachers to support students identified as Tier-II and Tier-II in the school-wide MTSS model
- Collaborates with building leadership and building PD committee to plan professional learning
- Consults with students, staff, administrators, and parents for appropriate placement of students.
- Meets with students to conduct preliminary and ongoing screening to identify students’ and weaknesses.
- Evaluates students by conducting the appropriate diagnostic tests. Assists building in analyzing data from district and state assessment data. Interprets assessment data; prepares instructional recommendations for classroom teachers; participates in student placement for intervention groups/programs, prepares instructional programming for paraeducators and/or parents to work with students; and monitors and inputs student performance data.
- Organizes and supervises the administration of state assessment programs.
- Provides direct instructional support to students with varying academic needs including those performing below, at, and above grade level as well as consultation and resources/materials support to teachers.
- Represents general education on the Building Support team.
- Prepares formal student reports/problem solving packets as part of the Special Education referral process.
- Participates in Committee work for students and/or curriculum support.
- Evaluates instructional materials and assists classroom teachers in selection and acquisition of appropriate instructional materials.
- Communicates new developments in curricular areas to appropriate staff.
- Attends regularly and participates in District elementary learning consultant meetings and “share meetings”.
- Performs other duties as requested by the building principal and/or Executive Director of Elementary Education.
SALARY:
Per Rochester Education Association Master Agreement
