GENERAL EDUCATION / NOON RECESS BUILDING PARAEDUCATOR

Location: Van Hoosen Middle School

5.5 hours per day, 5 days per week

Monday – Friday, following traditional school year calendar

 

$15.25/hour per currect RPEA Master Agreement

 

$250 signing bonus for new RCS staff after completion of 90 calendar days 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1. Post-secondary credentials required, per Rochester Paraeducator Association Master Agreement. Must be provided to HR prior to start date.

  • Completed at least two years of higher education in an approved program (transcripts required); OR
  • Received an Associate’s or higher degree (transcripts or original diploma required); OR
  • Passed state of local tests designed to demonstrate knowledge and ability in subject area as defined by NCLB requirements. Test results required (Example: ETS© ParaPro Assessment or MTTC-Professional Readiness Exam).

2. Patience and ability to effectively interact and maintain a professional rapport with others, including students, teachers, parents, and other staff members in the district.

3. Strong command of the English language.

4. Experience supporting Elementary instructional programs preferred.

5. Competency required to provide academic support with appropriate level curriculum.

6. Experience working with colleagues to organize, plan and implement lessons, yet has flexibility to work independently and demonstrate use of good judgment.

7. Possesses the necessary social and academic skills to promote cultural differences.

8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

SALARY: $15.25/hour. The hourly wage will be paid from the Instructional Classification Schedule per the Rochester Paraeducator Association Master Agreement.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

CLASSIFICATION: INSTRUCTIONAL GENERAL EDUCATION

 

TITLE:  ELEMENTARY AND SECONDAY LEVEL LEARNING CONSULTANT, INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT, DISTANT LEARNING, TITLE I, 31A PARAEDUCATOR
 

QUALIFICATIONS:    

 

1. High School Diploma; Associates/Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

2. One of the following additional educational requirements:

  • Completed at least two years of higher education. OR
  • Received an Associate’s or higher degree.  OR
  • Passed formal state or local tests designed to demonstrate knowledge and ability in certain subject areas.

3. Experience providing students with academic support.

4. Experience with tutoring children in academic subject areas, preferred.

5. Ability to interact appropriately and professionally with students, parents and staff.

6. Shows initiative and ability to function without explicit instructions.

7. Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities, including demonstrated mastery of mathematics and the components of literacy.

8. Excellent command of the English language, in written and spoken word.

9. Demonstrates mastery in computer literacy in Word and preferably Excel.

10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:                    Building Principal and Learning Consultant, receives day-to-day instructions from teacher.

 

CALENDAR:                       Follows regular school calendar.

 

JOB GOAL:                        To assist the Learning Consultant in carrying out duties necessary to provide support services in various academic areas or to assist with online learning student access/general questions.

 

  

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

*1. Assists in planning and implementing academic support for the Learning Consultant Program students.

*2. Helps students understand assignments or assists with projects/research as directed by the classroom teacher/Learning Consultant.

*3. Assists in administering appropriate tests to the students in the Learning Consultant Program or as assigned by the Learning Consultant.

*4. Maintains records of activities such as daily logs for every student, assignment sheets, and attendance records of the students assigned.

*5. Ability to operate office and instructional equipment.

*6. Orders materials for classroom use, such as texts, tests, and math supplies as directed by Learning Consultant/Principal.

*7. Inventories, distributes, and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction in the classroom.

*8. Conducts learning exercises with group of children.

*9. Monitors students’ classroom testing results and correlates that information to the planning for the students.

*10. Operate appropriated equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes, which may include various copier devices, computers/video conferencing, electronic or visual media devices.

*11. Attends parent/teacher or teacher/student conferences when requested by the Learning Consultant.

*12. Under the direction of the building or program administrator, and per Article 3.O, of the RPEA Master Agreement, support the dispensation, and documentation of medication as outlined under district regulations, the district nurse’s instruction, and the student’s Medical Management Plan.

*13. Performs such other duties and/or functions as assigned and/or deemed necessary by the nature of the work assignment and/or of the District.

*14. Under the direction of the building or program administrator, and per Article 3.O, of the RPEA Master Agreement, support the dispensation, and documentation of medication as outlined under district regulations, the district nurse’s instruction, and the student’s Medical Management Plan.
