We announce the following SPECIAL EDUCATION vacancy in the Rochester Community Schools for the 2024-25 school year. Internal applications will be given first consideration and applications will be accepted until filled.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in area of responsibility.
    • Current, valid Michigan Teacher Certification with special education in early childhood (ZS endorsement)
    • Ability to work well with students, staff and parents.
    • Capacity to serve with a collaborative team of professionals
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

Salary: Per Rochester Education Association Master Agreement

JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW:

Full-time Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classroom teacher within Rochester Community Schools This teacher position is part of a team of teachers and providers who coordinate educational services for students eligible for special education through implementation of the High Scope Curriculum

 

Additional duties include:

  • Teaching whole group or small group lessons
  • Team collaboration and consultation with teacher assistant and special education ancillary staff.
  • Supporting assessment and evaluation findings through data collection and tracking.
  • Preparing and monitoring IEP related activities.
  • Coordinating or providing modification and accommodation of curricular material.
  • Completing data collection activities, training, and reporting as directed through the Oakland Schools and the Michigan Department of Education.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The person selected for this position will be the one who offers the best combination of training, experience and attributes in accordance with the following:

  • Current, valid Michigan Teacher Certifcation with special education in early childhood (ZS endorsement)
  • Ability to work well with students, staff and parents.
  • Capacity to serve with a collaborative team of professionals
