SPECIAL EDUCATION ADULT AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) TRANSITION PROGRAM PARAEDUCATOR

Location: Dr. John M. Schultz Educational Campus

7 hours per day, 5 days per week

Monday – Friday, following traditional school year calendar

$16.75/hour per currect RPEA Master Agreement

 

$250 signing bonus after completion of 90 calendar day probationary period

 

 

Classification: Instructional Special Education

 

 

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma.
  2. Experience working with people with disabilities or appropriate techniques for interacting with students with disabilities preferred.
  3. Experience in special education career-based instructional programs preferred.
  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  5. Ability to engage students in an age-appropriate manner and encourage adult behavior in a work environment.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel) and other instructional support technology.
  7. Excellent attendance record, flexibility, and capability to meet both physical and academic needs of students.
  8. Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  9. Alternatives to the qualifications above may be considered by the Board.
  10. Consistent punctuality and reliability in attendance; ability to arrive at work on time and maintain a minimal record of absence.

 

Reports To: Building or Program Administrator

 

 

Calendar: Follows regular school calendar

 

 

Job Goal: To provide support to the special education program by assisting students with special needs in alignment with program philosophy and individual student goals.

 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Follows directions from building staff responsible for student learning plans.
  2. Assists students with orientation, reading, art, and other curriculum tasks as per their learning program.
  3. Implements prescribed behavioral management programs.
  4. Supports development of instructional materials and demonstrates initiative with individual students when appropriate.
  5. Assists with physical mobility and self-care activities such as toileting, feeding, and monitoring medical equipment.
  6. Participates in physical activities as part of the program or unique to the student’s educational plan.
  7. Reports student progress or challenges promptly and professionally to special education staff.
  8. Assists with routine classroom operations and maintains instructional materials.
  9. Supervises and supports students during non-classroom activities.
  10. Performs additional duties as assigned by special educators, Student Services Director, or building principal.
