QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Possess excellent organizational skills.
  3. Ability to interact positively with school/community and to work with limited supervision.
  4. Ability to interact appropriately with children.
  5. Be capable of bending, lifting, and overhead work as well as physically able to stand two (2) or more hours at a time.
  6. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance required
  7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

 

REPORTS TO:     Pre-K Teacher and Director of Early Childhood

 

 

SUPERVISES:     None    

 

 

JOB GOAL:          To participate in children’s activities designed to enhance their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. *Promotes play by encouraging participation in role play and dramatization.
  2. *Promotes curiosity and discovery (indoors and outdoors) by encouraging children to become actively engaged with classroom equipment and materials.
  3. *Supports children’s pro-social development by reflecting respect, kindness and compassion for others.
  4. *Assists children in large and small group activities, enforces safety rules, and intervenes when children are likely to injure themselves or others.
  5. *Assists in the preparation and maintenance of program materials and supplies as requested by the Pre-K Teacher.
  6. *Assists with the preparation, distribution, and clean up of snacks.
  7. *Remains in the program area with children during program hours.
  8. *Follows all school and licensing procedures to safeguard health and safety of the children, including hand washing, appropriate sanitary measures, playground safety rules, and rules regarding the use of supplies and equipment.
  9. *Remains knowledgeable about information forms and emergency procedures; checks identification of unknown persons picking up children from the program.
  10. *Greets parents and builds a rapport with them offering positive feedback about children when appropriate.
  11. *Is aware of the number of children in attendance at all times and counts them regularly to insure they are accounted for.
  12. *Is knowledgeable of fire, tornado, or other emergency procedures.
  13. *Informs Pre-K Teacher of any safety issues or behavioral issues including inappropriate conduct or activity of children.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned by the Pre-K Teacher or Supervisor of Preschool Programs.
